Derived from the Spanish word "loco" (crazy...ect).Influenced by hispanic culture in Los Angeles black gang members would refer to some of their
wilder more active or actually
mentally disturbed members as "loco".Due to the nature of
gang banging , "loco" was associated with some of the more feared and respected members. The term and the associated behavior became very popular with Crips in particular so as use began to fade with Blood gang members it became synonymous (but not exclusive) with Crip culture. So common it became in crip vernacular it was shortened to "Loc" and used as a suffix in gang members names . example....C Loc... There have been bloods that use the label but the C was replaced with a K....example Lok.
