A rather large, unstable chemical that some people claim tastes like sugar. Despite being called an 'additive' it breaks down into numerous other chemicals, one of which is very bad for people with a certain genetic disorder. Methyl alcohol (the stuff in windshield wiper fluid) is also a common by-product and really isn't good for anybody
