Performed in mormon temples, it is their marriage ceremony, which is performed at a sacred altar within the temple.
A
prerequisite to the sealing is that the the man takes his bride to be through the veil of the temple at the end of the
mormon endowment, thereby learning her "new name". The wife never is to know her husbands "name". Because in the wording of the sealing ordinance, the woman gives herself to the man, and the man takes her unto himself. A man can be sealed to an unlimited number of women as long as the previous wife is dead, but a woman can only be sealed to one man. Thus while mormons do not practice
polygamy in life, it is still a part of their doctrine, and will exist in the "celestial kingdom" aka mormon heaven.
