Arequipa

AREQUIPA is a beautiful town in Peru, South America, founded on Aug 15 1540, by Manuel Garci de Carbajal. The name comes from the quechua "Arequipai" which means "yes, stay here". It is located at the base of the Cordillera Occidental of the Andes, right in front of Volcan Misti, Arequipa (2,350 m.o.s.l), Is a beautiful city with colonial houses built out of sillar (limestone). It is called the White City, because all the buildings are white due to the material used, the limestone. Arequipa has a lot of good things to offer. It is a magical city and you can also visit the villages around it and even venture to the deepest canyon of the world, The Colca Canyon where you can see they Condors fly. There is an even deeper canyon, the Cotahuasy Canyon but it is further in and more dangerous to get too, that is why it hasn't been officially recorded as the deepest canyon yet.
