Term used to describe Japanese rock music. As far as I know, this term is actually rarely used in Japan; most use the term "J-POP" instead. Many groups that are referred to as "J-Rock" also fall into the category of Visual Kei (for example,
Luna Sea, Malice Mizer, Gackt,
Moi Dix Mois, Nightmare, and others). A major element in Visual Kei is flamboyant, eccentric, and feminine (less common nowadays) costumes. To be driven away by "
freakiness" of many of these groups is very foolish, as one would miss out on a beautiful form of music
